employee
My name is Yvette Bieckmann, employee at Rootz Gallery. I am 26 years young and am currently studying for a master’s degree in Arts and Culture at Leiden University. Since my Bachelor’s (Art History at Utrecht University), I have been interested in non-western art. In my opinion, insufficient attention is being paid to non-western art in the art history field in the Netherlands. Because I am interested in the rituals and world views of different cultures worldwide, I chose a minor in Religion and Cosmology of Asia and the Pacific. During my studies I learned a lot about Asian and Oceanian art – in particular Papua New Guinea. Wood carvings have always been a special interest of mine, so it was a logical choice to write my bachelor thesis on Asmat shields. I also love and collect African masks as well as figurines myself. I am looking forward to start at Rootz Gallery to share my knowledge and passion!
