The Qing Dynasty was the last imperial dynasty of China and dates from 1644 to 1911. This period is mainly characterized in art as a repetition of art from the Ming Dynasty. Many forms of art flourished here. This was reflected in the refinement of techniques that made art from this period very popular.

This bridal box is very finely carved from wood and has an octagonal shape. At the top are two phoenixes with a lotus in between. In Chinese mythology, the phoenix is ​​a mythical animal that unites the male and female. Like yin and yang. The lotus has the meaning of purity. At the front there is an opening with a movable dragon's head. The dragon symbolizes good luck in China. Small Chinese paintings and texts are divided into eight compartments at the bottom.
