Throwing knife of the Banda from the Central African Republic.

Throwing knife of the Banda from the Central African Republic.

Dimensions: 40 x 33 x 0.2 cm.

This steel throwing knife has three blades and a steel handle; the two upper blades are almost circular, with one slightly larger than the other. The blades branch out from the almost straight shaft; on the other side of the shaft at the base a small rectangular blade protrudes. This throwing knife comes from the Banda people, who live in the Central African Republic among other places. They are known for their impressive wrought iron throwing knives, which played an important role in their culture.

In addition to their original function as weapons, these knives were used as a means of exchange or currency because of the value of metal in times of scarcity.

This item is in fair condition with some traces of use on the edges, which emphasizes its authenticity and historical value. There is a hole in the throwing knife that was made later (see photos).
