Singing bowl 12 cm in diameter from Nepal.
Singing bowls originated in Tibetan Buddhist areas in the various states of the Himalayas. They are used as food bowls, sacrificial bowls, percussion instruments and for meditation. Each singing bowl has its own character, tone and timbre.
Singing bowls have many names, including: Buddhist bowls, harmonization bowls, healing bowls, Himalayan singing bowls, singing bowls, sacrificial bowls, relaxation bowls, ritual singing bowls or Tibetan singing bowls.
A singing bowl produces sound by striking it with a striking stick, among other methods. A more subtle method is to slowly circle the stick around the rim, creating a stick-slip effect. Singing bowls have many overtone resonances with specific vibrations. The effect is attributed to their frequency. By holding the singing bowl in a different way, other resonant frequencies become dominant and the sound changes. Our singing bowls come from Nepal and are of excellent quality.

Handgemaakte gepatineerde klankschaal
Klankschalen zijn afkomstig uit de Tibetaans boeddhistische gebieden in de verschillende staten in de Himalaya. Ze worden gebruikt als eetkommen, offerschalen, slaginstrumenten en voor bij het mediteren. Elke klankschaal heeft een eigen karakter, toon en klankkleur.
Klankschalen hebben veel benamingen, onder andere: boeddhistische schalen, geneeskommen, geneesschalen, harmonisatieschalen, heelkommen, heelklankschalen, Himalaya-klankschalen, klankschalen, offerschalen, relaxatiekommen, rituele klankschalen, Tibetaanse klankschalen en zingende kommen.
Een klankschaal brengt geluid voort door het onder andere aan te slaan met een aanstrijkhout. Een subtielere methode is de stok langzaam om de rand te laten cirkelen waardoor er een stick-slip effect ontstaat. Klankschalen kennen veel boventoonresonanties met specifieke vibraties. De werking wordt toegeschreven aan de bepaalde frequentie. Door de klankschaal op een andere manier vast te houden, worden andere resonantiefrequenties dominant en verandert de klank.
