Singing bowls

A little history

There is evidence that the metal bell originated in China, with the earliest known  from the 16th–11th centuries BC.  They possibly originated from grain scoops. The spread of Buddhism in the 2nd–7th centuries gave new impetus to the production of large bells for use in rituals. Chinese tradition was, however, unique in that bells were made not only from bronze but from cast-iron. Nepal and the North of India are the world’s production centres for singing bowls. In Tibet there is not much production of singing bowls.
